2CV FOURGONNETTE

This project was my third collaboration with the Italian coachbuilder Caselani. The 2CV FOURGONNETTE is inspired by the historic Citroën 2CV van born in the early 1950s. A car with very different proportions compared to the donor vehicle (the Citroën Berlingo), so I focused more on an overall evocative feeling of the 2CV first series, rather than forcing individual design elements to make them resemble the original vehicle. During the design process I was helped by a dedicated team from the Citroën Style Center.

Our goal was to obtain a vintage style body kit that could be fitted on the various versions of the Berlingo, so panel van and crew cab van versions were designed, as well as glazed derivatives for passenger transport. The design kits are assembled at Caselani's workshops in Sospiro (Cremona), Northern Italy, with artisanal method. The hand-made assembly process from the lamination phase of the fiberglass body parts to the final painting and polishing of each model requires 400 working hours.
