TYPE HG

A cooperation with Caselani - Sospiro / Cremona - Italy

Only few people are aware of the scaled down version of the iconic Citroën commercial vehicle HY. The project called Type G and it was intended to create a compact commercial vehicle able to carry a 500 kg payload. For economic reasons Citroën decided to get rid of the sliding door and rear bumper, reducing the design and production to the bare minimum required for operation. But still, the G van never saw the light of production as the project was cancelled in 1948 and resources were put to develop the van derivative of the 2CV.

After the creation of the neo-retro Type H in 2017 I was fascinated by the idea of continuing to write the history of the Type G that was never born. So together with Caselani we created the little brother of the Type H with the name Type HG based on the Stellantis K0 van series (Citroen Jumpy / SpaceTourer etc). The design is a respectful reinterpretation with the clear aim of matching the shapes of the historic Citroën van with the dynamic lines and modern proportions of the Jumpy / Spacetourer series.

The Type HG is assembled with artisanal methods in Caselani’s worshops in Sospiro (Cremona) Italy under Citroën Official Licensee, in a small numbered series, with a wide range of customization possibilities both for private customers and for companies looking for a vehicle capable of becoming a real marketing operation.
